Prayer Shawls are knitted or crocheted garments given as a tangible representation of the love of God and the healing power of prayer to those with special needs. They may be given to a recipient for many reasons such as a comfort after a loss, during an illness or as a sendoff to a graduate leaving for college. They may also take the form of a lap blanket - especially for non-shawl wearing men. Prayers and blessings are said for the recipient (that may or may not be known) by the crafter as they knit or crochet the shawl.
